Welcome
The David B. Weigle Information Commons, on the first floor (west) of the Van Pelt Dietrich Library Center, supports collaborative learning and group activities using the latest technologies. The Commons provides students with:
- Group Study Rooms with computers, plasma display screens and video-taping systems which can be reserved online
- Group Study Booths with laptops and movable display screens available first-come, first-served
- Alcove Meeting Areas with laptops and plasma display screens
- Seminar Room with laptops and room projection system to seat 35
- One-on-one and small-group assistance with research skills, time & project management, writing, communication skills and technology
- Training and equipment in the Vitale Digital Media Lab for digital media projects - including video, audio, imaging, web publishing and a small equipment lending program.

Research Skills: The Penn Libraries provide assistance with
accessing information and conducting research. There are several ways to get
research assistance:

Time and Project Management: The Weingarten Learning Resources Center, a department of the Vice Provost for University Life Division, provides assistance, by appointment and walk-in, in Room 125 with project planning, reading, study strategies and time management.

Communication Skills: Communication Within the Curriculum (CWiC) provides assistance, by appointment and walk-in, with public speaking skills. Walk-in hours resume in September.

Writing Skills: The Writing Center provides assistance, by appointment and walk-in, with writing for different audiences and purposes.

Tech Trouble-shooting: Need computer help now? The Vitale Digital Media Lab provides assistance with multimedia, sound, graphics and video projects on the Macintosh platform during open lab hours. The Library ITA next to the lab entrance provides assistance with Van Pelt laptop or PC technical issues, Office 2007, wireless connectivity and printing.
