Thinking Creatively about Video Assignments

A Conversation with Penn Faculty

This informal conversation in March 2008 brought five Penn faculty to the Weigle Information Commons to discuss their experiences teaching classes that have included video assignments. The first video is a preview and the others are in-depth discussion of specific aspects. We thank our participants for sharing their expertise:

Jacqui Sadashige's students have created video mashups for freshman writing seminars since 2007. One of Jacqui Sadashige's students won third prize in the 2008 Mashup Contest with his video Titanic Trailer Remix. Student creations posted on Youtube include a trailer remix of Cool Runnings, a video on Racism in Disney, and an interpretation of the Ultimate Sports Film.

Louise Krasniewicz' students created faux film trailer mashups; five are in the Anthropology Video Showcase.
