This is the sight that greets each library user as they enter the Weigle Information Commons.

Vitale Digital Media Lab:
A cutting-edge lab where Penn students can come to work on their videos, web and graphic design projects, podcasts, and more. You'll also notice a few "hotspots" in the movie. For example, if you put your mouse on the door to the lab, you'll see a description right under the movie that says, "Lab entrance." Point to other things to see what equipment we have available in the lab.

  • The view from Locust Walk. From here you can see Van Pelt Library (home to the WIC), the famous "Split Button," and some of the oldest buildings on campus, like College Hall, Logan Hall, and Fisher Fine Arts Library.
  • Moved from Lea's home and reassembled here on the 6th floor of Van Pelt. You can also see a vintage photograph of his library in his home at 2000 Walnut Street.
  • The University's first library building, designed by noted architect Frank Furness and opened in 1891, now houses the fine arts collection. (Note that in this tour, you can look in any direction, including up and down, instead of just panning from side to side.)

  • At the bottom of the Class of 1967 Staircase. You can also see the Circulation desk, and some of College Green through the large windows.
