Weigle Information Commons Desk Intern
The Internship
The Weigle Information Commons maintains 3 part-time internships for current graduate students in library science and education. Interns are the first line of response in the Commons, and are actively involved in all aspects of running WIC. Interns spend much of their time at the WIC front desk, providing support and direction for library patrons, and maintaining the Information Commons in working order. In addition to time spent in the Commons, interns also spend approximately 3-4 hours a week at the main reference desk providing reference service to all library patrons.
While all interns have a core set of duties centered around the smooth operation of the Commons, interns are also encouraged to expand their position to fit their career goals. Opportunities exist for interns to teach workshops and provide library instruction, participate in the design of promotional materials, create new workshops, and work on a variety of other projects that both improve the Commons and support the career growth of the intern.
