Equipment Lending Program

Location: Vitale Digital Media Lab (Weigle Information Commons, Van Pelt Library, 1st floor West)
Eligibility: Current Penn students, faculty and staff with PennKey and active PennCard.
Borrowing Period: up to 3 days at a time.
Overdue fines: $25 per day (or any part of a day) late.
Equipment may be used for academic or personal purposes.

How to Reserve Equipment
Our equipment loan guidelines provide additional information. The video and text instructions below show how to reserve equipment online:

  1. Login with your PennKey at http://checkout.sas.upenn.edu
  2. If you see a choice of locations, choose "Weigle Information Commons"
  3. Enter the dates and times you wish to request equipment - up to a maximum of 72 hours (3 days).
  4. Click "Add Resources" to browse through equipment available for the dates selected.
  5. Click the "Add" button next to an available item to request it.
  6. Any problems with your reservation will be shown in a red box on lower left. Problems will need to be corrected before a request can be confirmed.
  7. Click "Confirm".
  8. Pick up your equipment on time in the Vitale Digital Media Lab on the date and time requested. Our system cancels reservations for any equipment that is not picked up within 3 hours of the time specified.
  9. Read and sign an equipment loan agreement form when you pick up equipment.
  10. Return your equipment on time. Our late fine policy is $25/day late fee starting 1 minute after the scheduled return time.

3 $1000 This DSLR camera can shoot 14 megapixel images and comes with a 18-200mm lens. It comes with its own SD storage card
Casio Exilim FH100
1 $300 This point and shoot camera can shoot 10 megapixel images and has a 10x zoom. It comes with its own SD storage card.
FinePix REAL 3D W3 Camera 1 $400 This camera can shoot stills or video in 3D or 2D. 3D viewing in the built-in LCD view screen without special glasses. You can also output the 3D video to a 3D monitor

Samsung SDP-850DX Visualizer/Digital Presenter

Personal Response Systems Clickers
1 Set of 97 $3000 Thanks to the generosity of GAPSA, this set of 65 clickers is available for borrowing. The new model clickers have LCD screens so students can verify the response submitted. Clickers are a great way to poll the audience and can be used with any software program. Explore our Clickers Tutorial to get started.

CD/DVD-RW Drive
1 $100 Read or write CDs and DVDs. Connects to your computer via USB port. Some computers may not provide enough power through the USB port to power this drive. In this case, please plug the included cable into 2 USB ports instead of only 1. This drive does not come with CD/DVD burning software.
Thumb Drive
