Equipment Lending Program

The Basics:
Location: Vitale Digital Media Lab in the Weigle Information Commons, Van Pelt Library.
Eligibility: Current Penn students, faculty and staff with PennKey and active PennCard.
Borrowing Period: up to 3 days at a time.
Overdue fines: $25 per day.
Cameras may be used for academic or personal purposes.

Procedure:
  • Please request equipment via our online reservation system.
    1. Login with your PennKey at http://checkout.sas.upenn.edu
    2. If presented with a choice of locations, choose "Weigle Information Commons"
    3. Enter the dates and times you wish to pick up and return your equipment. You can keep equipment for a maximum of 3 days (72 hours).
    4. Click on "Find Resources" to browse through the equipment available for the dates you entered.
    5. Add resources to your reservation by clicking on the "Add" button next to an item.
    6. Click on "Current Reservation" to see a summary of your reservation.
    7. If there are problems with your reservation, you will see them in a red box in the lower left part of your browser. You will need to correct them before confirming your reservation.
    8. Click the "Confirm" button.
    9. Pick up your equipment on time in the Vitale Digital Media Lab on the date and time you requested. Your reservation will be automatically deleted by the system if you don't pick up your equipment within 3 hours of the time for which you reserved it.
    10. Return your equipment on time. You will be charged $25/day late fee starting 1 minute after the scheduled return time.
  • The system will automatically let you know whether equipment is available, so you will not receive a confirmation email.
  • You will be expected to read and sign an equipment loan agreement each time you borrow equipment.
  • Our equipment loan guidelines provide additional information.
