Teaching with New Media Symposium

Explore teaching with new media through faculty insights, hands-on exploration of four technologies and an overview of new media trends.
Four hands-on sessions: A faculty member will present for 20 minutes about how he or she integrated this new media into a Penn course, and how new media enhanced student learning. Student work samples may be shared. Participants will play with technology hands-on and discuss integration ideas for 40 minutes. Detailed scripts will be provided for hands-on exploration.

Stretching the limits: New Media and Today's Undergraduate Student
Patricia Aufderheide is a professor in the School of Communication at American University in Washington, D.C., and the director of the Center for Social Media there. She is the author of, among others, Documentary: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford, 2007), The Daily Planet (University of Minnesota Press, 2000), and of Communications Policy in the Public Interest (Guilford Press, 1999). She has been a Fulbright and John Simon Guggenheim fellow and has served as a juror at the Sundance Film Festival among others.
